15th Annual Brian Krueger Memorial Baseball Tournament – Letter from Krueger Family

Yes, I think the 15th Brian Krueger Memorial Baseball Tournament (BKM) will happen this July (7-11) 2021, in Lake in the Hills, Illinois. Therefore, I welcome players, coaches, parents, and all teams to a wonderful event that has occurred every year, except one since 2006. Yes, 2020 broke the annual chain.

Many of you know Brian’s story if your team participated in this tournament in past years. However, if this is your first year please read the 2021 BKM Registration Form and Info and check out other related articles on the BKM website. Friends we need to get back to some resemblance of normal. We need good news and something positive like this baseball tournament. I always tell people that the BKM should be a celebration of Brian’s life. Please look at our family picture banners that we hang around the fields. Visit the memorial tree and plaque. Patronize the food concessions, and most of all cheer on your teams as they play the game that Brian loved.

Let us not forget all those that have lost their lives to the pandemic. However, please remember that we hold this event to fight pediatric cancer. In Brian’s case it was brain cancer that took his life at the age of 11. Half the proceeds from the tournament go to pediatric charities that give children and their families hope. Through research, child wishes, and parties and events these organizations help bring a smile and a brief rest to these children and their families as they battle this awful disease.

In conclusion I want to thank the parents and volunteers from the Lake in the Hills YAA and Thunder baseball teams. Without their hard work and efforts this tournament would not be possible. It always amazes my family and I that every 1 to 2 years new people step up to organize and run the tournament. We are so very grateful to all of these folks, and wish them nothing but the beast as they facilitate the 2021 Brian Krueger Memorial Tournament.
